จะเน้นกระบวนการที่เกิดขึ้นในสมอง(Cognitive Process) เน้นการสร้างความรู้ของผู้เรียน(Constructivsm)

ถ้าเราเข้าใจในสิ่งเหล่านี้จะทำให้เราออกแบบการเรียนการสอน(Instructional Design) ออกแบบสื่อ(Media Design)

Cognitive tools refer to learning with technology (as opposed to learning through technology).Jonassen (1994) argues that “ technologies, from the ecological perspective of Gibson (1979), afford the most meaningful thinking when used as tools”.

Mental model

Mental model : A mental model is an explanation in someone's thought process for how something works in the real world. It is a kind of internal symbol or representation of external reality, hypothesised to play a major part in cognition. The idea is believed to have been originated by Kenneth Craik in his 1943 book The Nature of Explanation. After the early death of Craik in a bicycle accident, the idea was not elaborated on until much later. Before Craik, Georges-Henri Luquet had already developed this idea to some extent: in his seminal book Le dessin enfantin (Children's Drawings), published in 1927 by Alcan, Paris, he argued that children obviously construct internal models, a view that influenced, among others, Jean Piaget.

Metacognition refers to thinking about cognition (memory, perception, calculation, association, etc.) itself or to thinking/reasoning about one's own thinking. Metacognition involves two types of knowledge: explicit, conscious, factual knowledge; and implicit/unconscious knowledge. Metacogintion also refers to an higher level of thinking which involves active control over the process of thinking that is involved in learning situations such as planning the way to approach a given learning task, monitoring comprehension, and evaluating the progress towards the completion of a task are the skills of metacognitive in nature.
